Paige Jacobs Co-Founder & Lead Guide

I am Paige Jacobs, Co-Founder and Lead Microschool Guide of Modern Learning Association. I have my Bachelors degree in Child and Adolescent Psychology and Social Services and obtained my Masters in Business Administration. Throughout high school and college, I worked at child care centers, teaching infants to kindergarten aged children. I then moved onto being a professional Nanny in the Boston area. After working with children for over 10 years, I had two children of my own. I was a work at home mom throughout my children’s young lives, working Real Estate as well. We started our educational journey homeschooling then moved to Pod learning. I then became their pod guide which inspired us to create MLA.

Having such a passion for teaching children beyond the typical education has become a life long goal. Not only do I want to give my children the best, I want to share that with many others in the community as well. As the lead guide at MLA, I plan and coordinate the general curriculum used. I evaluate the students and their needs and cater their educational platform accordingly. I plan community events, classes and programs, and help manage the day to day operations of the company. I look forward to helping our future generation grow!

Elizabeth Shruhan Co-Founder

Hi, I'm Elizabeth, Co-Founder of MLA and I’d love for you to get to know me a bit better. My co-founder, Paige, and I first met back in 1997, and we've been friends ever since. Together, we founded Modern Learning Association, driven by our shared passion for alternative education.

My belief in alternative education is deeply rooted in my own diverse learning experiences. Over the years, I’ve attended private schools, public schools, alternative learning environments, community colleges, and universities. These experiences taught me one essential truth: education doesn’t happen in a vacuum.

I hold a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Legal Studies, and I’m a certified Paralegal. I’ve also worked as a Licensed Emergency Medical Technician. My journey through these various fields has shown me that there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to learning.

I believe every child learns differently, that education isn’t confined to a single location, and that the most impactful learning happens when diverse perspectives come together. That’s why I’m so passionate about offering educational experiences that are tailored to each individual.
